Event Raises Over $5,000 to Aid The Jirani Project
A fundraising event to benefit the work of The Jirani Project was held Saturday, February 16th, at Ticoz Resto-Bar in Phoenix. The event, hosted by AZ State Representative, Kyrsten Sinema, was the first of its kind for The Jirani Project.
Ticoz' patio was the perfect place for Jirani friends to gather to share conversation and poignant moments as we reflected on the post-election crisis in Kenya and its impact on children, families and the Kenyan way of life.
Our emcee, Jirani Project co-founder, Dr. Beth Blue Swadener (assisted by her grandson, Liam!) introduced our Kenyan keynote speaker, John Ng'asike, as event goers enjoyed dining from an array of vegetarian dishes. John's inspirational life story and first-hand account of Kenyan life, was enjoyed by all.
Following the keynote presentation, a silent auction of beautiful, African art was held. Generous donations and silent auction proceeds raised over $5,000 to benefit our Kenyan Jiranis!
Asante Sana!
